California Department of Cannabis Control

California's cannabis equity efforts support people and communities harmed by cannabis criminalization. These efforts lower barriers to the cannabis industry for those hit hardest by the War on Drugs.

DCR — Los Angeles Department of Cannabis Regulation

The mission of the Social Equity Program is "to promote equitable ownership and employment opportunities in the cannabis industry in order to decrease disparities in life outcomes for marginalized communities, and to address the disproportionate impacts of the War on Drugs in those communities."

City of Long Beach — Office of Cannabis Oversight

"The objective of the Cannabis Equity Program is to support equitable opportunities in the local cannabis industry by making legal cannabis business ownership and employment opportunities more accessible to individuals impacted by the prior criminalization of cannabis in the City."

NACB — National Association of Cannabis Businesses

"The goal of social equity laws is to ensure that people from communities disproportionately harmed by marijuana prohibition and discriminatory law enforcement are included in the new legal marijuana industry."
